Mantle in the Master Bedroom

Hello everyone! This is just a quick post of the mantle we put in our master bedroom. I am one of those folks that love  a statement piece in every room. We knew we wanted a television in our bedroom. But, just didn’t want a tv hanging on the wall. I have seen where they put a mantle on the wall and that’s it.  We wanted something different. So this is what we came up with. My Daddy helped us build the hearth piece. Then we just built from that. The wood over the mantle is drop siding from my grandparents old home. Love!! The mantle I purchased from a friend over in Elba. It turned out beautiful. We loved the wood behind the tv but there was a ton of discoloring on the wood. So we just decided to paint it. 

This is what it looks like now. The wood siding is painted a country gray to match the hearth. It looks good. But, we do sometimes wish we had left it natural wood. We trimmed it out and called it a day. The insert was a Facebook find a year later. It was black when we purchased it. It came out of a local farmhouse 😍😍. It’s not operable. But we love it!!
