Butler Pantry Refresh

I always like to take a look back at some of my rooms and do a refresh.  So, I decided to take the pantry up a notch. I love everything old and farmhouse. I believe the room now reflects that. Take a look. I will tell you at the end the look I was going for. Y’all see if I achieved it. The following pictures are before:

I store all my small appliances in our pantry. This helps keep my kitchen much cleaner. The first thing I decided on about the refresh was to stain and seal the butcher block. I used Early American Minwax stain. Then sealed them with poly. I do realize you should use a food safe sealer for kitchen countertops. But, we do not use these countertops like that. Just storage and such. Here’s my progress:

So I began to look at pictures for inspiration. My grandfather, on my Daddy’s side of the family, owned a little convenience store when I was very young. We use to visit him when we would come home to Alabama. That place was so cool. With all the crates and glass containers. That’s it!!! Like an old general store! So that was my inspiration...a General Store!  I searched for old wood crates to do my displays. Found a super cute saltine cracker tin. I also added one of my grandmother’s old bowls. She use to call this her “meat bowl”. She would cover fat back and salt meat in this bowl with a old flour sack.

My sweet Momma cans the best tomatoes. So I wanted to display them as well. These wood pieces are stove back covers my husband had made and no one claimed them...sooo

I hope y’all are enjoying our projects. I love sharing them with you. Maybe you can take some of my ideas and your memories and create something special in your home.
